Pop-eye special

Greetings all, and welcome to the first instalment in what is sure to be a hit series - Rate My Lasagne. (T-shirts coming soon!) Because let's face it, Lasagne is the unsung hero of modern cooking. Versatile, filling, and a perennial crowd-pleaser.

And first up I am reviewing the Spinach and Ricotta creation featured as created by none other than our favourite girl-next-door, Chloe.

A first effort for young Chloe, and indeed a worthy one. It looked appetising and did not disappoint. It was perhaps a bit...crunchy at first, in a not-quite-a-chocolate-milkshake way, but nonetheless it was quite tasty. The spinach and ricotta combination is as tried and true as Bert and Patty Newton, only less aged and far more amusing.

Myself and the other gents present certainly enjoyed it, hoeing in for seconds as soon as we could. It took a vengeful woman with a sharp knife to adequately cut through all the layers for us (I noticed we were all eyeing eachother nervously the whole while) but it was, realistically, a minor hurdle.

The different types of cheese, parmesan, ricotta and...something else, combined wonderfully to create that feeling of "too much cheese is barely enough".

It also fell apart quite quickly, but this is a common occurrence in vegetarian lasagnes and is certainly not something I take real issue with (apart from of course writing about it on a public blog viewable by anyone) (there you go Chloe, there is some criticism for you) (holy crap I use brackets far, far too much).

Overall, a hearty effort which promises to be the first in a long series of lasagnes from Chloe which just get better and better as time goes on, in a manner entirely dissimilar to the Star Wars franchise.
